Plans for creating a safe and secure classroom environment:
- Arrange room where it can be changed and is flexible.
- Make sure classroom materials are easily accessible
- Provide plenty of different stations with plenty of room to get around.
- Definition of differentiating instruction is using a wide variety of teaching techniques and lesson adaptations that help to instruct a diverse group of students with diverse learning needs in the same classroom. Some of these ways are through choral response, fist of five, individual response boards, think-pair-share, and ticket out the door.
The justification for differentiating in the classroom environment is that in order for all learning styles to be met it requires teaching to different levels.
How will I meet the social and emotional needs of my students?
Through being able to recognize emotional states of my students and respond in ways that positively impact learning (Goleman, 1995). Making sure to work to know my students' emotions and feeling well enough to offer encouragement when needed, and to spark the curiousity and interest needed to move learning forward (Tomlinson and Imbeau, 2010). Making sure to provide learning socially for the students with peer interaction often.
How I will eliminate student fear of failure and humilitation is by the following:
I will eliminate student fear of failure and humilitation by:
Having group discussions and asking a recall questions (knowledge or comprehension) for those students who have trouble thinking on the spot and answering. They can recall facts and build their confidence.
Ask questions that do not have right and wrong answers. Ask questions that allow students to think outside the box.
Ask evaluative questions which promote further discussion.
Ask application questions that allow students to relate the topic to their own lives and experiences.
Examples of what can be expected from student work and assignments
Students should be able to recognize the letters of the alphabet and in their name
Shapes and colors
Number recognition and counting
Reading- through pictures, retelling of the story, or reading the words in the book
Fine motor skills
Examples of what can be expected from the assessment of student work
Teacher observations
Teacher-student observations
Students work through writings, drawings, etc. in a portfolio
How I will provide students opportunities to succeed
I will provide positive encouragement through praise and recognition by showing students work on the walls. By providing positive words through praise of words or a special treat. Providing students opportunities to share their work with other classmates or teachers. I will make sure that all students know the expectations and do their best on all their work. Use the motto try and try again. As well as never say never always I can try to do my best. Reminding students that it's okay to make mistakes and that no one is perfect.
